2020 will be a year to remember, and we want to commemorate it with a book of recipes – The Cambridge Lockdown International Recipe Book – as a way of sharing all the fabulous experiences and fantastic food we have been creating, growing and cooking during this period. We also want to celebrate our wonderful Mill Road independent grocers and restaurants by offering recipes from around the world with suggestions for ingredients you can get specifically from them, like fresh turmeric from Al Amin, salami from Culinaris and Limoncello, kimchi from Seoul Plaza, pak choi from Ocean or Cho Mee supermarkets, jagyu from Mill Rd butchers, miso from Arjuna, ras el hanout from Spice Gate, affilia cress from Hilary’s, or kielbasa from Jess’ Polish market. Get inspired, buy some ingredients, and try something new. On Mill Road we have what must surely be one of the most diverse, independent and interesting group of grocery shops. Let’s celebrate!
Any profits from the sale of the book will go to the local music charity CAMS Music Trust (CMT). CMT has been hit hard by the lockdown but have been making community music even during the lockdown. In normal times, they have been providing community music experiences since 2014, with the Cambridge Community Orchestras (junior and adult), choirs, workshops and a whole range of work in local schools.
